Content
Training: anything you create from the Create a training window. There are three types: the capsule, the session and the training interest. All three are built and distributed the same way; what changes is how the learner accesses them. See Understanding trainings.
Capsule: the default training type, content that learners follow on their own, whenever they want and as many times as they like. Its length is up to you: nothing in the product limits how long a capsule can be. See Capsule trainings.
Session: a training that learners join on a given date, in person or remotely. On top of what a capsule offers, it adds one or more time slots, a number of seats and a registration, which can require approval before the seat is taken. A learner registered for the session is registered for all its time slots, including those added after they registered, and the number of seats applies to the whole session, not to each time slot. See Training sessions.
Training interest: a training that collects expressions of interest. You count raised hands before opening dates, without handling each request individually. See Training interests.
Topic: a subdivision of a capsule. Each topic contains activities (card, video, question) and, in most cases, a quiz. See Activity formats.
Tip: short content that learners consult, whereas a capsule is followed. A tip is not assessed and cannot be added to a learning path. Views are counted and tip statistics show a completion rate, but nothing measures understanding: if you need to prove that someone has understood, use a capsule. You choose one of four types when you create it: Information tips, Question tips, Video tips and Document tips. See Tips and their variants.
Product sheet: also a tip, with its own screen and fields, that describes a product or service and is consulted when it is needed. It is not created from the tips list. See Product sheets.
Learning path: an ordered set of trainings. It is the unit of distribution: you open a learning path to a group, not a capsule. See Learning paths.
Category: your way of sorting content by theme. The learning path distributes, the category sorts. A category is required to publish a capsule. See Categories.
Skill: something a person can do, which can be observed and placed on a scale. Content is linked to skills to measure more than completion. See Building the skills framework.
People
Learner: the person who trains, in the app. See Discovering the app.
Profile: a set of permissions in the back office, within a department. The five predefined profiles are marked System template in the list. See Assigning permissions.
Role: assigned in the Roles tab of a group and exercised in the app, within the scope of that group, with no access to the back office. There are four roles: the team leader (follows their team from the My team tab), the coach (supports skill development through milestones, see Coaching), the validator (receives requests to approve, such as a session registration, with no administration rights) and the community animator (pins a tip in the feed). See Roles in a group.
Distribution
Distribute: decide who has access to what. Three models can be combined: global distribution, which you tick scope by scope under To be displayed on the catalogue of; distribution through learning paths, the default model; and custom distribution by group. See Understanding distribution.
Dynamic group: a group that fills itself based on criteria applied to your users’ data. See Dynamic groups.
Academy: a department whose content distribution is kept separate and that learners can see: they switch between academies from a selector, each with its own name and logo. The back-office button is called This department is an academy. See Understanding academies.
Pin: two meanings. A community animator pins a tip at the top of the feed (The feed); a department pins a learning path from another department, read-only and continuously synchronised (Sharing a learning path between departments).
Highlighting and prioritisation (formerly “featured”): highlighting moves a capsule up in the For me widget on the home page; prioritisation opens a window in front of the learner. See Featuring a capsule and Prioritising a capsule.
Mandatory: content with a deadline and compliance tracking. A mandatory requirement only exists within a distributed learning path. See Model 2: distribution through learning paths.
Notification: the message that announces or reminds. Notifying does not grant access, and the permission to notify is separate from the permission to distribute. See Notifications.
Tracking
Completion: the proportion of what has been finished. The calculation depends on the table you are looking at: two columns with the same name cannot be compared from one screen to another. See Statistical indicator definitions.
Validation mode: the setting that decides what must be achieved to pass. On a capsule, it is set capsule by capsule, with its own threshold. On a learning path, it can require only some of the capsules: a learning path can therefore be passed without all its capsules being passed. See Statistical indicator definitions.
Certificate: the document that proves a training has been passed, sometimes with a validity period. It is not distributed: you set the condition and the platform awards it to whoever meets it. See Certificates.
Badge: a symbolic reward, triggered by a rule chosen when the badge is created. A badge motivates, a certificate proves. See Badges.
Points: the sum of the scores earned on capsules and revisions, used for leaderboards and avatars. See Points and avatars.
AI
Learning agents: four assistants that rely on your content. The Agent Question/Answer answers questions, the Agent Recommendation points to relevant content, the Agent Consolidation helps learners revise, and the Agent Simulation has learners practise a situation through a conversational role-play. See The 4 learning agents.
Glossary: your company’s business vocabulary, declared so that the AI uses your terms. Not to be confused with this page, which explains Beedeez’s own words. See The glossary.
False friends
These five pairs are behind most misunderstandings. Each one contrasts two similar words that do not control the same thing.
Publish or distribute
Publishing sets the capsule to Online: it exists, it is finished and it can be viewed. Distributing defines who has access to it: a learning path opened to groups, a scope ticked in the catalogue, or a custom distribution rule.
Publishing does not target anyone. An online capsule that nothing distributes reaches no learner. See Publishing and unpublishing a capsule and Understanding distribution.
Department or group
The department models your organisation chart and separates administration: who manages what, who sees which statistics. You see your own department and everything below it, never alongside or above it. A learner belongs to one department only.
The group is the unit of distribution: a learning path is opened to groups, never to individuals. A group exists within a single department, and a learner can belong to as many groups as needed, with their access adding up.
In short, the department defines who administers, the group defines who receives. See Understanding structure and permissions and Understanding groups.
Profile or role
A profile is a set of permissions in the back office, assigned within a department. A role is assigned within a group and exercised in the app, only within the scope of that group.
A role does not open any access to the back office: appointing a team leader or a validator does not give them any administration rights. See Assigning permissions and Roles in a group.
Completed or passed
A capsule is completed when the learner’s progress reaches 100%, whatever their score. It is passed when it is completed and the conditions of its Validation mode are met.
This mode is not always based on a score: it can require a percentage of topics passed, a percentage of the maximum score, or specific topics to be validated. A learner can therefore complete everything without passing anything. See Statistical indicator definitions.
Unique or global
These two words change meaning depending on the statistics table you are looking at.
In the Learners table, unique columns count each capsule once per learner, whatever the number of attempts, and global columns count every attempt. Both follow the period selected in the filters.
In the Capsules table, global columns are cumulative since the account was created and ignore the period; only the columns ending in - current period are limited to it.
To measure coverage, use the unique columns of the Learners table. See Statistical indicator definitions.
