Statistics indicator definitions

⚠️ Required permissions: at least one statistics permission must be enabled in your permission model. To learn more, see Manage access to statistics.

This page provides the exact definitions of the indicators available across the different Statistics tables. Check these definitions before comparing two values: columns with similar names may use different calculation methods.

💡 Tip: most columns in Statistics include a tooltip with their definition. Hover over a column header to read it without leaving the page.

Distinguish between “started”, “completed” and “passed”

These three statuses are used as the basis for most rates:

  • Started: at least one attempt exists for the capsule;
  • Completed: the capsule has reached 100% progress;
  • Passed: the capsule is completed and the conditions defined in its Validation mode have been met.

The Validation mode is configured separately for each capsule. Three options are available:

  • Percentage of concepts passed, selected by default;
  • Percentage of maximum score;
  • Validation of selected concepts.

The Success percentage required to pass the capsule field, available under Capsule success, defines the threshold that must be reached. The default value is 50%.

⚠️ The success threshold is specific to each capsule. Two capsules within the same learning path can therefore use different thresholds, for example 50% for one and 90% for another. There is no single success threshold for the entire account.

The Capsule status column displays:

  • In progress until the capsule has been completed at least once;
  • Passed as soon as at least one attempt has been successful, even if it is not the most recent attempt;
  • Failed if the capsule has been completed but no attempt has met the success conditions.

Distinguish between a completed and a passed learning path

A learner has completed a learning path once they have completed all of its capsules, regardless of their validation modes.

A learning path is passed when its Validation mode has been satisfied. The available options are:

  • Pass all capsules;
  • Pass a percentage of capsules;
  • Pass selected capsules;
  • Pass a percentage of selected capsules;
  • Pass mandatory capsules.

A learning path can therefore be passed without every capsule being passed, and completed without being passed.

See Create a learning path to configure its validation mode.

Compare rates across tables

The same labels can appear in several tables without using the same calculation.

TableCompletion rateSuccess ratePenetration rate
Learnerscapsules completed / capsules startedcapsules passed / capsules startednot available
Capsuleslearners completed / learners startedlearners passed / learners startedlearners completed / learners included by the filters
Learning pathslearners completed / learners startedlearners passed / learners startedlearners completed / learners with access to the learning path
Groupsdistinct capsules completed / distinct capsules startedcapsules passed / capsules completednot available

⚠️ Two indicators with the same name are therefore not necessarily comparable across different tables.

To find the share of learners who passed a capsule among those who completed it, use Completion and success rate in the Capsules table. It corresponds to the number of learners who passed divided by the number of learners who completed the capsule.

Read “Unique”, “Global” and “current period” columns

The terms Unique, Global and current period do not mean the same thing in every table.

In the Learners table:

  • Unique counts each capsule only once per learner, regardless of the number of attempts;
  • Global includes all attempts made on capsules.

In both cases, the data follows the period selected in the filters.

In the Capsules table, the logic is different:

  • columns with the - current period suffix include only activity recorded during the selected period;
  • Global columns are cumulative from the beginning of the account’s history and do not depend on the selected period.

Read learner activity indicators

The main learner activity indicators are interpreted as follows:

  • Time spent: the time spent learning on the platform. Simply opening the app without any activity is not counted. Learning time only includes activity on Capsules, Tips, AI agents and memorization.
  • Points - Global: the total number of points earned by the learner, regardless of the selected period. Points - Current period only includes points earned from capsules during the selected period.
  • Active days: the number of distinct days during which the learner was active on the platform within the selected period. Simply logging in without any activity is not counted.
  • Last login: the date of the learner’s most recent login to the platform, either from the app or the web version. Back-office logins are not included.
  • Onboarding date: the reference date used for rolling campaigns. If no onboarding date is provided, the account creation date is used instead.
  • Scheduled deactivation date: the date on which the learner account will be automatically deactivated. Scheduled date means that a specific date was set manually. If inactive means the deactivation depends on the inactivity rule.
  • Status: indicates the learner’s activity status. Active means they have started at least one capsule or tip. Connected means they have logged in to the platform without starting any content yet. Not connected means they have never logged in.
  • Theoretical level: calculated from completed learning content.
  • Manager level: the level assigned by the manager.
  • Average level: the average of the levels assigned across completed milestones.

Distinguish between certificate indicators

Certificate-related indicators do not measure the same thing depending on the table you are viewing.

  • Certificates obtained, in the Learners table, corresponds to the number of distinct certificates obtained by a learner.
  • Certifications obtained, in the Groups table, counts all certificate awards, including renewals.

⚠️ These two indicators therefore measure different things. Certifications obtained does not represent the number of certified learners, and the two columns should not be added together.

Good to know

The Penetration rate is calculated differently for Capsules and Learning paths. For a Learning path, it corresponds to the share of learners who completed it among those who have access to it. For a Capsule, it compares learners who completed it with the number of learners included by the applied filters, which is the same for every row in the table.

A capsule distributed to 20 learners within a filtered population of 1,000 learners can therefore show a very low Penetration rate, even if all 20 learners completed it.

A rate can exceed 100% in the Learners table. This can happen when a learner completes, during the selected period, a capsule they started before that period. The capsule is then counted among completed capsules, but not among capsules started during the period.

Missing data is displayed as 0 rather than as an empty cell. A value of 0 can therefore mean either that no data is available or that the calculated value is actually zero.
