The Content tab lets you track how learners use and progress through the different types of content available to them. To access it, go to Statistics > Content.
The indicators available vary depending on the type of content you are viewing. This article explains which data is available for each content type and what it measures.
For the exact definition of each indicator, see Statistics indicator definitions.
Choose a content type
Statistics are organized by content type, with a dedicated tab for each one: Capsules, Tips, Product sheets, Learning paths and Hot / cold evaluations.
A tab is displayed only if your permission model gives you access to the corresponding statistics. The Tips tab also requires this feature to be enabled on your platform.
The Hot / cold evaluations tab contains evaluations associated with sessions. To learn more about how they work, see Evaluate a session .
Understand capsule indicators
Capsules provide the widest range of indicators. Three main rates are used to track their activity:
- Penetration rate;
- Completion rate - Unique - current period;
- Success rate - Unique - current period.
These are complemented by attempt-based indicators (Number of attempts, Number of completed attempts, Number of successful attempts) and learner-based indicators (Learners started, Learners completed, Learners passed).
These two types of indicators do not measure the same thing. For example, if a learner starts the same capsule three times, they count once under Learners started, but three times under Number of attempts.
The Penetration rate corresponds to the share of learners who completed the capsule out of all learners who have access to it. It therefore depends directly on how the capsule is distributed, not only on the activity of learners who started it.
Understand learning path indicators
Learning paths have three main indicators: Penetration rate, Completion rate and Success rate.
The Penetration rate corresponds to the share of learners who completed the learning path out of those who have access to it.
The Completion rate corresponds to the share of learners who completed the learning path out of those who started it.
⚠️ The Success rate for a learning path is calculated differently. It is based on the capsules that make up the learning path, rather than directly on the number of learners.
Hover over the column header to view the calculation details before comparing this rate with the other two.
Distinguish current-period data from cumulative data
For Capsules, most indicators are available in two versions: one limited to the period selected in the filters, and one calculated cumulatively from the beginning of the account’s history.
The - current period suffix identifies indicators calculated only from the selected period. For example: Completion rate - Unique - current period.
💡 Over a short period, two similar columns can therefore display very different values. The cumulative value will always be greater than or equal to the value calculated for the current period.
When adding columns using Columns, add them one at a time and hover over the header to read their definition before interpreting the results.
Open capsule details
To view the statistics for a specific capsule:
- Go to Statistics.
- Open Content, then select the Capsules tab.
- Find the capsule you want to review and click its row.
The capsule opens on the Global tab. Depending on its content and your permissions, the following tabs may also be available: Answers, Learners, Groups and Diagnostics.
The Groups tab compares the same indicators across different learner groups. Use it before concluding that a capsule is underperforming: a significant difference between two groups may point to a distribution or context issue rather than a problem with the content itself.
A capsule containing a SCORM module displays its own indicators: Passed, Failed, Average score and Pending.
⚠️ Pending statuses that remain over time usually indicate that SCORM data is not being sent back correctly, rather than learners simply not having completed the module.
Choose which columns to display
Each table displays only some of the available columns by default.
To customize the table, click Columns at the top, then select the columns you want to display. Use the search field to find a column by name, or click Reset to restore the default layout.
💡 Table exports use the columns currently displayed, including their order and the active sort. If a value is missing from your export, add the corresponding column to the table first, then run the export again.
Find learners who have not started
In a capsule’s details, the Learners tab only lists learners with activity by default.
To also display learners who have never opened the capsule, open the filters and select the Users who have not started only audience.
To notify these learners, see Send learner reminders from Statistics.
Good to know
The Success rate is always less than or equal to the Completion rate. Whether a capsule is passed depends on its Validation mode and the success threshold defined in its settings.
Certificates use their own success threshold, independently of the thresholds defined for individual capsules. It is therefore important to distinguish between these two thresholds when interpreting the results.
To learn more, see Statistics indicator definitions.
Detailed analysis does not cover all five content types. This export provides only three options: Export by learners, Export by capsules and Export by learning paths.
Tips and Product sheets are not available in Detailed analysis. Their data must be exported directly from their respective tabs.
⚠️ Detailed analysis is available only from the Global tab, and only if your profile has access to advanced exports. If the button is not displayed in the Content tab, this is expected: go to Statistics > Global to access it.
