A template replaces the PDF layout with a background image you supply, on which you place the fields to print. The certificate decides the award condition and the wording, the template decides what the document looks like. See Certificates.

Where it is set

Configuration > Customization > Certificate templates. The entry is greyed out while a department is selected at the top of Configuration: templates belong to the account, and the same set serves every department. On the certificate side, Select a template offers Without template by default.

Without a template there is still a document

This is the most common misunderstanding. With no template, the learner still gets a PDF: the layout shipped by Beedeez, in your account’s main colour, with the logo, the title, the learner’s name, the dates, the description and the signature. So a template does two things: it imposes your own visual, and it prints four values that layout never displays, namely Learner score, Success rate, Correct answers percentage and User email.

💡 Tip: one template serves many certificates. The title, description, logo and signature come from the certificate, so you do not need a separate template per training course.

Creating a template

  1. Click New template, then fill in Certificate template title. This name identifies the template in the back office and is not printed on the certificate.
  2. Add the background image with Change image. Until the image is there, the + buttons in the right-hand column stay inactive and no field can be added.
  3. Add the fields you need with the + on each row, then move and resize each one on the image. The - on a row removes the field again.
  4. Click Create. The button stays inactive while the title, the background image or a first field is missing.

The Image size bubble states the expected size, 1122 × 793 px, and the picker crops to the shape of an A4 page in landscape. Beedeez adds no frame and no layout on top, it prints your fields onto your image: start from a finished visual.

⚠️ Keep the background image free of text that Beedeez prints itself, such as the course description or the expiry date. Anything you place in the image is fixed and will sit underneath the printed fields.

The Signature field has a minimum size and refuses to shrink further, with a message telling you so.

The available fields

Twelve fields, in a single list, with no grouping and no search. The header: Logo, Certification title, Certification description, User name, User email, Signature. The dates: Certification date, End of validity, Training period. The results: Learner score, Success rate, Correct answers percentage. Certification title prints the title you typed on the certificate, never the title of the capsules behind it.

⚠️ A field you did not place does not print. If the expiry date is missing, the validity period is correctly set on the certificate but the End of validity field was never placed on the template.

What it does not do

No free text block: a regulatory notice, a training-provider registration number or the name of a certifying body belong in the background image. And the editor has no preview: to see the result, use See certificate from the Certificates tab.

Some fields print their own wording ahead of the value, in the learner’s language: Obtained date: for Certification date, End date of validity: for End of validity, and Training date: for Training period. Training period also prints a Training duration: line when the certificate carries a training duration.

Learner score prints a bare number. Success rate and Correct answers percentage print a rounded number followed by a percent sign. None of the three carries a label, so plan that wording in the image. A score of zero and an empty success rate print nothing at all.

The trap: a skill-based certificate ignores the template

The Select a template picker also shows on a skill-based certificate and the choice is saved, but the PDF always comes out in the layout shipped for skills: templates only serve capsule-based certificates.

Deleting a template

⚠️ Check first which certificates use it. Clicking the row opens the editor, and the row menu offers Delete certificate, which here deletes the template. The confirmation says nothing about the certificates concerned. They fall back to Without template and keep being awarded, in the shipped layout.
